Where old-world craftsmanship meets tomorrow's building standards
Started this whole thing back in 2011 after spending way too many years watching buildings go up that'd look dated before the paint dried. There's gotta be a better way, right?
We're not trying to reinvent the wheel here - folks have been building smart for thousands of years. The Vikings knew their stuff when it came to lasting structures, and there's something about those clean lines and geometric patterns that just... works. So we took that essence, mixed it with modern tech and sustainable practices, and here we are.
Our crew's spent the last decade-plus proving that sustainable doesn't mean boring, and contemporary doesn't mean soul-less. Every project's different - some clients want us to breathe new life into century-old heritage buildings, others are looking to break ground on something totally fresh. Either way, we're making sure it'll still look good and function well fifty years from now.
Design spaces that actually work for how people live today, while respecting what came before and what's coming next.
Listen first, sketch second. Every site tells its own story - we just help translate it into something you can walk through.
Look, we could throw around fancy corporate speak about synergy and innovation - but that's not really our style. Here's what actually matters to us when we're knee-deep in a project.
We're in Vancouver - we see what climate change is doing firsthand. Every material choice, every energy system, every window placement counts. Been incorporating green building practices since before LEED was cool, and we're not stopping now.
A building doesn't exist in a vacuum. Whether we're working in Gastown or Kitsilano, each neighborhood's got its own vibe. Our job's to respect that while still pushing things forward a bit. It's a balance - sometimes tricky, always worth it.
Wood should look like wood. Concrete like concrete. We're done with fake finishes pretending to be something they're not. There's real beauty in letting materials be themselves - costs less in the long run too.
We've got about fifteen people on staff now - architects, designers, project managers, and one very patient office manager who keeps the whole operation from falling apart. Everyone brings something different to the table.
Some of our folks came up through traditional practices, others studied sustainable design from day one. A couple are heritage restoration specialists who can tell you the exact year a building went up just by looking at the joinery. We've got LEED accredited professionals, Passive House consultants, and one guy who's honestly just a wizard with structural calculations.
What ties us together? We're all pretty obsessed with making buildings that don't suck. Sounds simple, but you'd be surprised how rare that is.
Got a project that needs some fresh thinking? Or maybe you're just curious about what's possible with your site? Let's talk it through over coffee.
